Efficacy and Safety
Clinical Study

Combined acetaminophen and ibuprofen for pain relief after oral surgery in adults: a randomized controlled trial (Merry et al., 2010)

Clinically proven in an acute pain study of post-operative relief after removal of 1-4 wisdom teeth.

At maximum dosage, Combogesic® delivers at least 32% more effective pain relief than a full daily OTC dose of acetaminophen or ibuprofen alone.

Efficacy and Safety
Clinical Study

Analgesic Efficacy of an Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen Fixed‑dose Combination in Moderate to Severe Postoperative Dental Pain: A Randomized, Double‑blind, Parallel‑group, Placebo‑controlled Trial (Daniels et al., 2018)

For patients undergoing extraction of 2-4 wisdom teeth, the fixed-dose acetaminophen + ibuprofen combination provided:

  • Significantly more effective pain relief than either acetaminophen or ibuprofen alone.
  • A faster onset of meaningful pain relief than acetaminophen or ibuprofen alone.
  • Reduction in the percentage of patients receiving opioids and their consumption of opioid rescue medication.

Pooled Safety Data

An integrated safety analysis of combined acetaminophen and ibuprofen (Maxigesic®/Combogesic®) in adults (Aitken et al., 2019)

This study pooled safety data for Combogesic® across four separate clinical trials showing that the incidence of adverse events experienced were similar to or below either acetaminophen, ibuprofen or placebo groups.

Overall, Combogesic® is well tolerated and has a strong safety profile at single and multiple doses.
